Once again Ernie the people of Red River County is getting what they voted for. See they voted a man into the position of sheriff that now "doesn't want to be sheriff" and the commissioners will appointment the non-working present sheriff to continual getting paid for doing nothing. If the citizens had only listen to the man that could have made the county proud and voted him into the position of sheriff this time next year you would be able to have seen a difference in the wonderful county of Red River, which, I was at one time proud to say was my home. Now, I'm no longer in the county and as always it's dying away to nothing. At one time, Red River County was a proud place and people were proud, will we ever see or hear of that again? We can pray maybe God will intervene for the sake of it's citizens and open their eyes. People wake up and smell the roses!

A Simple Thank You.

This is a simple thank you. I know most put their complaints here but I would like to say this please. I used your space to voice my opinion and to get others to pay att. about the school, but now I would like to use your space again for people of Red River Co. I want to thank everyone, thank you for your kindness and love during the time of our loss of our sister Jimmie Whitaker she went to be with GOD on sat. Sept. 13,2008. Special thanks goes out to the Haywood Community for their kindness, phone calls, food preparation, preparing of the church and center. All the old and new friends of Jim, she will be missed. Again, I thank you all for everything. At this point in time I can't name off all the people that showed the love, and I don't want to leave anyone out.

Oh yes I know about the hanging tree, when I was in elementary school down there we actually went on a school field trip to the grave yard where the tree stands, I thought it was wrong then but as a child what can you say when a teacher, an adult feels it is ok to take black kids to a place where such horrible things had happened to the ancestors of the very children you are teaching. This town is unbelievable, and what's so bad the people that run the town are so corrupt what can you do to stop it.

I have to agree with the comments that have made by my Cousin. Enough is enough, my brother has been through enough the last few months with losing his son. I truly see how cold hearted Red River County really is. This Town has no compassion on a grieving father and mother of the lost of their baby. This shows that there is nothing else better to do but find a case to make it out of nothing. Just so someone can have a dollar in their pocket. Everything that has transpired in Red River County justice will one day be exposed and when it does I wonder how that shoe will feel. It's sad a few bad apples make everyone else look horrible that work for Red River, I don't say that all people intents are same as others. But the ones that are bad make the others grab a bad name. I will continue to Support my brother to the most high I know what type of person he is, father he is to his children. He has been the primary care taker for all of his children, and mine when he was teenager. Find something better to do and let brother and the mother of this child grieve over the loss of their son instead causing so much pain in their lives. People that are from Clarksville if you read this post stop being scared to step up and defend what's right. As long as we as people sit back and take what's dished out it will continue to happen! Stand up for what's right not WRONG!!

You know what that is really hard to comprehend that the whole justice system in one county would be this corrupt UNBELIEVABLE!!!!. The law enforcement in this town has no value for human life at all..!! You have a good BLACK man that is trying to do the right thing be a wonderful father and take care of his kids but NO that's not enough IT can't be enough because the DA and his buddies want to railroad him. Every time I talk my cousin my heart breaks this is like a nightmare to him and the mother of his son.. they've never gotten the chance to morn correctly because of all this MESS these LIES that Clarksville's Finest has created in order to turn his ordinary life into living in hell.. They don't even care that he just lost his only son...just as long as they get the SO-CALLED JOB DONE!!!! BULLSHIT I SAY.. AND ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT RUN THIS TOWN...UNBELIEVABLE I SAY AGAIN...THIS HAS TO STOP...!!!!

There is also a glorified HANGING TREE located in the City of Clarksville that they are PROUD of, and have glorified it with a plaque. That kind of mentality is hard to overcome it seems, even in the 21st. century.

Hello,

My Name is Cicily, and I grew up in Clarksville Texas, but moved away the summer I graduated in 1996. I hated the town then and I hate it even more so now. Let me tell you why. Well, the corruption of the Clarksville Sheriffs office has hit my family through my cousin and the death of his son. The sheriffs office has taken it upon themselves to try and accuse and convict my cousin of the death of his son. I know my cousin as if he was my own self. We were raised like brother and sister for many many years. He has two daughters that love him dearly. He has never harmed a hair on there heads, so when he had his son my whole family was just filled with joy he finally had a boy. But through tragedy his son was taken from him at only 4 months. But let me ask you; (this question is targeted toward any man that had that first son) just imagine how you felt the joy, the love, but you know what's even more unimaginable for someone to accuse you to point the finger and say you did it. My cousin hasn't even had the chance to morn the death of his son because of the CONSTANT HARASSMENT FROM CLARKSVILLE'S FINEST... Why would they try and do this to him I ask?? My opinion on the matter is CLARKSVILLE IS A RACIST HICK ASS TOWN, AND ARE JUST TRYING TO RAILROAD ANOTHER BLACK MAN. BUT GUESS WHAT!!!!! ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN ...CLARKSVILLE HAS FINALLY MESSED WITH THE WRONG FAMILY. I am pissed and so is my whole family. It's time for a change in Clarksville the time is now. I know you can't change how a person is, or not make them be racist or corrupt, but I don't feel like these people and THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE!!!; HAS THE RIGHT TO BE IN A POSITION TO DECIDE WHETHER A BLACK MAN IS INNOCENT OR NOT BECAUSE HE WILL NEVER HAVE A FAIR SHOT AT JUSTICE IN RED RIVER COUNTY. The autopsy report from Dallas Texas proved that he didn't hurt his son by any MEANS. So why was he arrested and why does he have so go to court on Monday??? Bullshit in my eyes. I was born and raised in Clarksville, red river co. I have heard so many complaints against the school here. Well I have one of my own now that not only affects my household but everyone that has a child/grandchild/sister/brother within this school system. I have 2 children (boys) in this school and due to the teaching that is taking place now has not only my children upset, but has myself just a little bit upset to. Due to the dress code changes found out after school started unlike some other changes made, children nor parents liked the idea of not only being told of this until already being enforced. The girls are treated in a better manor than the little boys. Boys now are to tuck their shirt tales in for the main reason given to me was they were boys and the girls didn't have to. Now don't get me wrong if the girls tuck their shirt tales in I don't see a problem but since our school district has decided that the girls are somewhat better than the little boys. The issue and concern here is what is this teaching my children that if your a girl you can get special/or better treatment when it comes to dress codes, and what will follow? As of 1 hour setting watching children go in both boys and girls there should be no difference in the girls tucking in their shirt tails to make them look a little more professional and maybe to less a security risk as was explained to me. Now keep in mind these are our children but this is as some may say gender splitting. I really thought we were past those times this is 2008 where women/girls wear 3pcs. suits. I believe if one sex is made to do this then all within the school should be made do this. For this could in more ways than one cause more issues within the children and the schools than what the school district and board has thought about. It is not just my opinion but of others also. If you are a parent of one of these boys/girls and believe in equal rights and agree that the girls should be treated equally then let your voice be heard!

It is me again for all of the concerned parents who think that i am right on the Dress Code of Clarksville School District. That we should not GENDER SPLIT and make a difference between boy or girl in our school district. The school board holds public meeting every 3rd Tuesday of the month (Sept., and Oct.) at six o'clock pm. Please show your support by showing up and telling them it is wrong. Our children are not different and they should not treat them different. If we do not stop it now it will most likely get worse. Who is to say what will be next where they make a difference at. Maybe it might be athletics or academic next. This is something as a community that we do not need to let happen to our children. Once you teach a child to make a difference between people it is not something that can be untaught. So once again PLEASE show up to the school board meeting on SEPT.16-2008 at 6pm at the Clarksville Administrations Building on Main Street to voice your opinion on this issue.

I have two boys in school. This year the school board said all male student have to tuck in there shirts. All female student do not have to. I think it is wrong for the school to GENDER SPLIT on there dress code. What is good for the girls should be good for the boys. I believe that women can do anything a man can. I addressed this with the school. At first he said that the boys were a greater security threat than the girls. When i went to school here the girls was just as bad as the boys. Then he said it was in expectations of professionalism. I think if we are going to teach the young boys to be professionals we should teach the girls. I have no problem with making young gentlemen out of them. But if we do that then don't we need to teach the girl to be young ladies? I am asking the people of RED RIVER COUNTY to tell the school district. WHAT IS GOOD FOR ONE IS GOOD FOR ALL. We don't need to teach our children that there is a difference between male and female. If a child learns there is a difference when they are young what will be there ideal of the difference when they become adults. My two sons feel that the girls are getting special treatment and that they are being punished for being a male. So if you are a parent of a child in Clarksville School District PLEASE tell them BOY OR GIRL IT DOES NOT MATTER!!!!!! WHAT IS GOOD FOR ONE IS GOOD FOR ALL. Most of our children will learn bad things in life but this is one thing that we do not need to teach them. If they need to learn something it should be that we as a people regardless of color, age, sex, religion, or nationality are equal regardless. If we do not stand up for our children and the laws set forth now then where will they be in a hundred years if not sooner. Our children is our future leader and work force of this great nation. We need to make sure that there CIVIL RIGHT are protected and the CIVIL RIGHTS of our future generations. Title IX of the Educations Amendment of 1972 says all students should be treated equally.

You all have the gull to bash our county deputies and police officers and tell lies about them but turn around expect them to take a bullet for you when the going gets tough. Well wake up Red River and Clarksville the ones that you bash and tell lies about our the ones who get paid less than you and protect you no questions asked. So I ask you what type of people are you? I really I'm starting to wonder. You say that these fine officers are selling drugs out of there patrol cars when you know damn good and well that is a lie. All your problem is that you yourself can't obey the laws of the land and try to make other people look bad while you show your ignorance of how stupid you really are. You have no facts, no evidence, no pictures, nothing to prove that what you say is true. You say that the sheriff's office and PD are sexual playhouses but you have no proof. Our officers and deputies put their lives on the line every time they go to a call. Every time they do a traffic stop. But yet here you are getting the hell beat out you and expect them to protect you from your attacker and then the next day calling them all liers and thieves and sex hounds. Talk about a double standard. Take a good look at yourselves and tell me what you see. Know what I see a bunch of babies that haven't grown up yet and didn't get their way so they are going to throw a fit and see if they can get their way. If this hits a nerve well to bad for the babies who can't and won't handle the truth of things. It's time for people to stand up for our officers and deputies instead of lying down.

this is the most bullshit i have ever heard. our clarksville pd and RRC SO.are all doing there jobs so quite yer whinning if you all would obey the laws then you would not have a problem in RRC. OR CITY OF CLARKSVILLE. this is a good place to live the schools are great and the law enforcement officers do there jobs very well as far as i am concerned they deal with 75% shitheads 5% poor me"s 20%people trying to make ends meet . so open your eyes and see whats happening. as far as the bradys are concerned we have a great mayor a kickass new RRCS. and a great city police force if you all want something to bitch about look in the mirror and ask yourself what have i done to help our city and county to become a better place to live besides piss and groan about things that are not true . wake up clarksville and take responsibilty for your own actions and stop blaming our law enforcement officers .WE ARE PROUD TO BE IN THIS COUNTY .HOORAH TO ALL OUR EX MILITARY IN THE FORCE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ...... I am married to Red River County deputy Michael Kelley and i thought id inform the public just what kind of person he is. We have been married 18 years. I am disabled and he has decided recently to abandon his own mother and myself to shack up with a local felon, nothin new huh. Your beloved sheriff has no problem with this. My husband is a narcotics officer and on the tactical response team and the person he is seeing is Lucinda Sue Draper a convicted felon she has been handled at that department twice for methamphetamines and has been found an unfit mother. I am very angry with the lack of morals and ethics that department seems to hold. Ya'll have called the department a sexual playhouse, thought id let u know ur right.

I'm sure every citizen in the good county of Red River stands up for what they believe. I can't see much change in the past thirty years I've been back here. So, once again we're leaving this worthless county. Once upon a time you couldn't ask for a better place to live, but that was before the crooks and more crooks took over. I want to say I wish the best for Mr. Bridges, but what I can see it isn't going to be any better than it's been the last thirty years due to the fact they don't clean up the stinks. They are letting a fine lawyer/business owner and his wife be ruined because of all the crookedness in the county. I don't understand, but God does. I pray that Rhonda and Mark can beat this falseness they are accused of, but there again they are in RED RIVER COUNTY. If the good ole boys can't get you one way they will another. There is NO way Rhonda would be caught in such an act of ungodlessness, for her family is a well known up bringing family. She has the finest parents a child could ask for and I believe that they are being railroaded as most good abiding citizens do. Mark, maybe you need to teach the RRCty deputies some law. The good sheriff has one aboard that doesn't know his law books especially the penal codes. Especially where No Trespassing or a Fire plug is involved. Teach them the law Mark, I know you can!!!! Dear Editor:

As a life long citizen of this county, I would like to say this ordeal that involves Mark and Rhonda Lesher is about the most ridiculous thing I have heard of in a while.

Based on news reports, I as other residents, feel these allegations are not factual by no means.

Mark and Rhonda Lesher are about the finest people in this county. They have worked hard not only at their businesses, but have put in long hard hours trying to build up our city and county. Not to mention the monies that have been donated here and there. They have given their time, blood, sweat and tears to try to help our community. They have helped when no one else would.

Mark is an attorney. His profession lets him sue people. Val Varley was in private practice before he was the County Attorney. Did he not ever represent anyone in a lawsuit?

I can not imagine the humiliation that Mark, Rhonda and their families have gone through. Why people in this county spend so much time and energy crucifying people before the "facts" are presented is beyond me. What happened to "Innocent until Proven Guilty ?"

Folks, if you have any compassion in your heart what so ever, you need to help Mark and Rhonda by being present in the courtroom on June 17, 2008 at 10:00 am.

This is not about all the "ifs" and "buts" here in this county, this is not about the Avery Landfill, this is not about all the lawsuits Mark has filed. This is 2 peoples lives at stake. Not one person in this county has the right to point a finger at anyone else.

Let me ask this question: If anyone of you readers are every accused of something, will you tuck you tail and hide, or will you fight for what you believe in?

My name is Jurline (Richardson) Edwards and I really don't have a problem letting you all know who I am. I can't believe the citizens of Clarksville are scared of change, of change for the better. My brothers are involved in the lawsuit, so, you know I take it personal. I took all the wrongdoings in Clarksville personal before it happened to them. Thank God I don't live in that town any more. Clarksville has always and will always be ran by Klan's. That's why they won't let anything come there. They make their own laws and rules. You have citizens who have that slave, master mentality. I refuse to be owned by anybody and so does my family. But, until the citizens of Clarksville stand up and speak out for themselves, nothing will change. This has been going on for years and will continue to go on until someone is brave enough to confront the prejudice and injustice face on. I don't justify or support wrongdoings but, I don't think all of my brothers should be punished for what one of them did. Kevin did this and if anybody should be punished, it should be him. But, even he should be treated fairly and punished not because of the color of his skin. I am so tired of hearing about all of the injustice in that city. It's as though it will never change. And, what baffles me the most is that when the citizens could have made a change by voting people into office that would be fair, they didn't. What's going on? You tell me. See, I went to school with the so called Sheriff of Clarksville (Terry Reed). Remember, the saying, they become police officers because they were bullied in school, prime example, Terry Reed. It seems that there are people who are saying that the Richardson lawsuit is all about money. Well, let me say one thing.......If it had been me, who's life was ruined, I would sue them too!!!!!for every dime they had! Stop and think about it, What is a man's reputation worth? I'm confused because the lives of two men were ruined because they were visiting their relative and "allegedly" the relative was selling drugs. Now, here's a hypothetical situation question: how would you feel if you were visiting a relative and the house got raided. Should you be arrested and charged even though you were innocent and just visiting "YOUR RELATIVE THAT SELLS DOPE?". Now...how about the fact these young men did not know the relative was "allegedly" selling ?? why were these men's lives ruined Sgt Booker? Does the law apply only to some and not others? Also, are you going to lie on the stand like you did during Tracy Reeves trial? The trial that sent that man to prison?

Hope your wife is much better. A week from Tuesday in so important in the sheriff race. Bridges is really working and spending pa in law monies on newspaper ads etc. Those of us that want Royce to take back the sheriff dept. need to really consider calling just three people who we know are subject to not even voting in the runoff. It may be a neighbor, someone we work with, etc. but we need to call them personally and say, if you are not already committed to Bridges would you please consider Royce. We have really got our work cut out and Royce is trying to do this by himself. Also, the law suit levied against Bridges, sheriff dept and rr county can really wake people up unless it has come too late. The black community needs someone in sheriff dept to make proper decisions rather than doing business the old way and deciding that because they were black they were guilty. I am so proud of our citizens of rr county black and white. don't try to tell me we don't have racial profiling in rr county. we do and have had for years. its time to stop that and Royce will. We must have a large turnout of the black population to defeat Bridges. They deserve a decent sheriff dept.

First of all I would like to tell John from Mississippi that I understand how he felt when denied his legal right to have contact with his daughter. I believe you have grounds for a civil suite against both Reed and his wife. I urge you to go get em'. I also understand that Reed has a 1 mil. dollar suite against him now. Bridges says he wants a king size jailhouse or "prison" in RRC. Those facilities use a lot of water. I'm not so sure the city lake is big enough to support anything like that. Bridges also has a 1 mil. dollar suite against him. We "DO NOT NEED" somebody like that as Sheriff. It is my opinion that Bridges might in some way try to make the taxpayers pay for it. I don't believe anybody should be allowed to run for a public office if they have a suite filed against them, especially a CIVIL RIGHTS SUITE. If Bridges can't properly execute a search warrant how can he properly execute the duties of a Sheriff??????? Bridges has not been honest with the people of RRC. He will not address the issue of UNSOLVED MURDERS. He does not have the experience or wisdom it takes. Puff, Puff, & Don't smoke All of IT!

Hello, my name is Kristen Manginell. Recently, there was a comment posted on this site about me that was untrue. I knew that this rumor had been floating around, but I ignored it, figuring it would just die out as rumors tend to do. Well, it seems some people would rather try to ruin other people than live their own lives. Just to set the record straight, I have never had any type of intercourse with an inmate. Even though the name was withheld, I know exactly who wrote this post. This person was not working at the S.O. at the time of the "incident". Any information that she received was, at best, second or third hand. And very few people know that I had already submitted noticed before any of this happenned. As for this girl getting fired, I dont know if she got fired or quit. I do know she left in the middle of a shift without notifing her superiors. After time had passed without hearing from the Sheriff, the other jailer and I contacted him to see if we should call someone in to replace her. That was the first he heard of her leaving. I believe this is grounds for getting fired from any job. All we were told the next day was that she was no longer employeed there. The women were not given a water pitcher because neither were the males. They were not told to get it out of the shower, but out of the sink in their cell. The water that was put in the picther was out of the sink in the kitchen. It is the same water!! It is the same water everyone in this town gets and what they use to brush their teeth with. Also, all inmates are served tea or koolaid at each meal. And I was never told to treat inmates badly. In fact I was told anyone mistreating inmates would be fired. This post was written with malicious intent, rumor, and twisted facts. Not only does it hurt me, it hurts my family and friends. Also, it discredits this website. I feel sorry for people who post on here based on truth and with legitimate information. Post like that one make me wonder, if one person uses this page as a way to get back at someone they have a grudge against, how many others are?

Couldn't help but post a response to Freddy Booker's comment. From all I have been told by several people who have known him for a while, he should be an authority on whether or not someone is a dumb ass being as he has a Major in dumb ass with a second Major in lard ass. I do not understand how he would think that you are defending dope dealers, especially after he sells dope out of the back of a patrol car like his pal Spangler. And yes, Mr. Pace is a fine upstanding person, even after he was almost shot one night on private property after playing "bump-n-go" with a woman who was not his wife. I guess Freddie was absent the day that they taught reading in shcool or he would have read the suit to see that the people who filed the suit were arrested even though they were not on the warrant. But I forget, this is Red River County, where the Sheriff's department makes up the rules as they go. Well Ernie, Old Freddy Booker said a mouth full of..... the ugly word he said. At this point the party was told this officer {Freddy Booker} was involved in one of Bowie County's biggest Drug bust they had ever had. The party was tired and said I wouldn't know the junk if I saw any, but either you do what you have to do and let me go, or do you think I might need an attorney. That person went to jail over night and within the year was in court and won the case and shortly afterwards that Officer was unemployed. I wonder if Freddy Booker has ever heard the saying "birds of a feather flock together"? That is exactly what is and has been going on for way to long in Red River County. There is a great difference in DEFENDING a person's right's and Supporting Dope dealers.Freddy may not understand the difference since he is so eager to be in the spot lite.I truely hope he and others get their names in the paper during the TRIAL. I am a former employee of the Red River Co. SO and I was basically fired for not kissing butt. The so-called attractive jailer who had intercourse with a federal inmate didn't like, me so Terry Reed gave me the boot. Kristen Manginell was the pathetic jailer who couldn't get a date on her on so she went behind bars. I worked there for two months before I even got a good look at Terry Reed, so I would love to know what he was getting paid for because he was not at work. I was fired because I wouldn't kiss butt and I didn't believe in treating the inmates like crap!! If an inmate was sick, Terry Reed would get mad if the nurse said to take them to the hospital. Larry Spangler cut out giving the female inmates a pitcher of water at lunch time. What type of crap is that?? We were told to tell them to get it out of the shower. I bet Terry and Larry don't drink from the shower!!!!

In reference to: God moves mountains I am so tired of reading about Bridges having a background in Ju-Jitsu! That guy can't possibly have been schooled in Ju-Jitsu! Unless he was a failure in that too! He doesn't have the confidence , stance or carry himself in any resemblance of the training! Yes, I would know! I was schooled by a wonderful little lady in Arizona in the late 60's and continued for over 10 years. It was only lawfully taught then in Arizona and New Mexico! Only recently in the other states! Mostly Brazilian style is taught now, which is more grappling than what I was taught (Budashen style) which is more nerve techniques. He carries himself more like a victim than a warrior, I mean...you give the guy a microphone and you still can't hear him, he stands there with his shoulders slumped and head down , won't look at the people in the eyes...more like he is ashamed of himself! On his website he has posted" responsible use of marijuana" as a law officer how can he say that or even think such a thing...isn't that a conflict of interest since he is supposed to up hold the laws of the country! I had the pleasure of being denied my parental rights today by your beloved sheriff. I happened upon your site while looking for some info. on your county sheriff and thought maybe you could help. My daughter is terry's step-daughter and as you probably know the kids are on spring break this week. I have custody of her all week because I live in Mississippi. The custody papers state I have to provide transportation 1 way because Susan (terry's wife) got "knocked up" and drug my daughter more than 100 miles from original address. So after driving 8 hrs. Susan said if I don't bring her back home she can't go, of course I said no but I will bring her to Dallas you can pick her up there. Then I was told she can't go. I called the Clarksville police dept. and then the Sheriff dept. both were more than willing to help until I told them who I was dealing with. Even though I could provide legal docs. to prove I was telling the truth. terry met me at the door and said he was the law in Red River County and basically told me to leave and called some of his "good ole" boys to remove me from his yard. I was told in the process there was a Judge working that day, this would be the only person who could help out. When I asked to talk to her I was told sorry you just missed her maybe you can come back tomorrow. So now I have to find an attorney or a Judge that is willing to help me. Do you possibly know some one who can help?

This webmaster has taken some of the worst abuse (from people of power in this county) of anyone I have known and it was not him speaking.. It was voters of this county. We have new commissioners, but if they aren't welling to stand up for the citizens what could does it do to have them? Remember this is what got our commissioner Alton Peek killed. He was searching out things and they didn't like it and look what happened. This is why the Star was shut down because they were too personal with their questions and someone didn't like it therefore, they shut the Star up. Why do you think they are always on Ernie? I just read the Paris News article about the City of Reno and the woman who was arrested for missing funds. It made me think of how we (people in Red River County) cannot even get any questions answered, or complete audits of past years, audits of the Sheriff dept and a quarter million of over the budget spending. Where did that money go at the Sheriff Dept? Or what was it spent on? Especially when the officers have to use other county uniforms because Red River County cannot afford it. I have heard many residents ask the question of why Val Varley has not prosecuted on the credit card abuse? If they are using the money amount, then why has Judge Harville not done anything about that? We know we don't get our answers, but want to ask again. Unauthorized use of a credit card is not serious within this county! Makes one wonder what else has been overlooked in the finances of this county. I am glad we have two new county commissioners. As we all know, they don't just represent their district, but they represent this whole county when it comes to handling our taxpayer money. And we are questioning at all of them and how they handle our money. Rape in the County Jail, sexual philandering, racial profiling, gender and age discrimination. And Bridges has not spoken out against any of this. He stands for nothing except jujitzu and cage fighting. Didn't Reno use "abuse of official capacity" and the Texas Rangers were involved. Why not in Red River County? They could get several on that. And would like to question if "Nicole" who wrote you that note, even lives in Texas? If not, she does not know the laws here.
