| It
is amazing that these signs were OK during the Primary Election when 4
candidates were running in the race, but now that there is only 2 and one of
them is their appointed Sheriff, the signs have come to the attention of Val
Varley County Attorney. Just who are these public
......complainants. We heard that Terry Reed filed a complaint with
Val Varley. This is the letter sent to Mr. Abbott requiring him to
change all of his campaign sign's because of his "FOR" being 3/8 inch too
small. When you read this letter, you will see that Varley states that
complaints from the public about the size of the word "for" is the reason
that he was requiring Mr. Abbott to do something about his signs.
While at the meeting in Avery I heard Mr. Read talk about the illegal
campaign signs. Who of us out in the community would even know that
there was a law requiring the "FOR" to be at least 1/2 the type size of the
office, which was in this case "Sheriff" Take a look at Mr. Reed's
signs, they do not pass muster either, at least now that we know.
This is just another example of the "anything and
everything" to keep Royce Abbott from becoming Sheriff.
Val Varley
was heard to say he was doing his job. I say that he is overdoing his
job, to the benefit of the appointed acting incumbent. Who of us really cares
about the size of Abbott's "for", or for that matter the size of Reed's
"for". Since Varley has sent no letter to Reed, we can assume that
Abbott's supporters don't care, but Mr. Abbott is out putting "For" labels
on his signs that were furnished to him by his sign company. This is
another example of Val Varley selectively choosing who to punish and who to
ignore. This method of thinking on Val Varley's part also extends to just
who it was that committed an offense.
It's amazing, in the last paragraph of Val Varley's Letter Page 1, he
states that there are rules for political campaigns and everyone must abide
by these rules. OK VARLEY, YOU NEED TO SEND A LETTER AND MAKE REED
CHANGE HIS "FORS". He was not elected to the office, he was
"APPOINTED" by the select few.
I forgot, it doesn't count in Red River County for the select few!!! |
