OPEN RECORD REQUESTS
Home
This page will list all open record requests that have been filed with County Government.  When opened, they will show my letter of request, and any records that were obtained via the request.  Open request must be filled as quickly as possible but in no case later than 10 days after the request has been placed. The only way a request is not filled is if a waiver has been given by the Attorney's General Office stating the records are not subject to the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act).  Very seldom will the AG's office issue a waiver.
Rating of Response from the Elected or Appointed Officials Office

****   Timely Response  Provided all the information, but took their good easy time, and possibly the full 10 days to do it.

***     General Response  Hummed and Hawed,/had a bad attitude, made excuses, but provided the information.

**       Poor Response  Took the request, but did not provide all the information and/or made poor excuses about filling the request.

*        Lousy Response  Took the request, /had an attitude about taking the request, either did not provide the information in a timely fashion (within 10 days) or just did not bother to respond at all.  (Will get a complaint filed with the Texas Attorney's General office.)

County Clerks Office Registry of Official Ballots  (Rating**) Request Filled Unsatisfactorily
County Clerk's Office (Royce Abbott) (Rating*****) Request Filled
Sheriff's Office (Royce Abbott) (Rating *) Request Filled, (10 day time frame elapsed) Received after 10 day time frame.  I was not specific enough.  When you are dealing with open records request, you have to be very specific in time frames and what information you want.  I missed putting Royce Abbott's name on the second part of the request, so it seemed to them like I was asking for all of their correspondence, which I was not. This will give an excuse to not fill the request.  If you don't put a time frame it will also give an excuse to not fill the request.  These were done hurriedly, so I made mistakes.
District Clerk (Royce Abbott)  (Rating *) Request not Filled!!  No notice or response received!  (10 day time frame elapsed)
