Paula Swint

Candidate for Red River County Treasurer

2/1/2008

I talked with Mrs. Swint at The Bistro Restaurant last Saturday afternoon.  She was introduced to me by a friend of mine.  At that time, I informed Mrs. Swint who I was and I could tell by her handshake that she was not thrilled, but was pleasant.

I asked her at that time if she would participate in the Candidates forum and answer the questions that had been posted to the Candidates for Treasurer of Red River County, and she indicated that she was not interested.  I told her that all she had to do was accept the questions via e-mail, and answer them and send them back to the site.  I asked her at that time if she would not reconsider, and finally she said that she would take a look at the questions if I sent them to her.

I e-mailed the questions to her a week ago tomorrow at the e-mail address she gave to me, but have heard nothing from her.  I would appreciate it Mrs. Swint, if you would get those questions back to me if you care enough about the voters of this county to want their elected position of service.

I know that Shirley Anderson, and her brother Commissioner Rufus Ward are supporting Mrs. Swint, and that Shirley is the one (I am told) that talked Mrs. Swint into running against Kristy Gray.  I have been told that Shirley Anderson does not like Kristy Gray, and because of that neither does Rufus.  That right there is enough for me to vote for Kristy, because of the way the Commissioners Court has handled the Sheriff's office scandals, and Rufus and Shirley are a part of the Commissioners Court, which I consider to be one of the Main Problems in this County!

Kristy has answered all of the questions put to her by the voters who are readers of this site, and has taken some considerable harassment by some of the people who are opposed to her election to the position.  She has weathered the storm, and I am proud of her for answering the questions and her abilities as the present Treasurer of Red River County.  Kristy has changed since she worked at the Sheriff's Department, and I believe it is a truthful and genuine change.  Kevin Gray, her husband has always been very nice and courteous every time I have met him.

Mrs. Swint I will be happy to remove this, and put up a bio of your abilities, and a picture if you will just answer the questions, and send me the bio.  Otherwise I will assume that my impression of you from our meeting is correct.

If Mrs. Swint cares to rectify the situation and answer the questions.  We will then  reconsider her position as a candidate.  It is totally up to her if she answers the readers questions or not.  It is totally up to the readers whether they vote for her or not.  It seems very obvious to me that she is interested in the Position of Treasurer for her own gain, and what benefits it will bring to her, along with Shirley Anderson's friendship, and the "Clique" that will be formed with both of them together in the Annex!

Mrs. Swint cannot expect to get my vote with the attitude that she displayed to me when I met her.  I could easily see that my vote meant nothing to her.  She is totally ignoring the questions put to her by the readers of this site, who have every right to those answers if she wants them to consider her for their votes.  The way I look at it is that if my vote means nothing to her, and she doesn't care to answer the questions that my readers are concerned about, then she is not going to get my vote, and I recommend that the readers of this site vote against her.
