The Citizens should have an opportunity to talk to Superiors of Law Enforcement in this State. It should not only be for complaints, but also for compliments (when there are some). I sent a letter to the Governor, and a DPS officers Superiors thanking them for his help, and courtesy above and beyond the call of duty when I had vehicle trouble on a dark, lonely stretch of road one Christmas Eve near Brownwood Tx. The trooper was not only courteous, but went above the call of duty to help me get my vehicle back to town, radioed ahead and had the dispatcher ask the local auto parts place stay open to get the part for my vehicle, took me to get the part and then helped me change it out. To this day, I am still sending him and his family Christmas Cards. This DPS officer was a true public servant..... Do we have that here?
Anyway, If you want to file a complaint or a compliment, use these numbers. I was unable after several tries to get Colonel Davis's Fax number, and he would not return my calls, but do have the voice line (I guess they did not want him to see or hear my complaint!)
Colonel Davis is Over DPS and the Texas Rangers. Voice: 512 424-2000
Ken Nicholas is the Director of the Criminal Justice Division in the Governor's Office. That division funds DPS. His voice line is: 512 463-1919 His fax line is: 512 475-3155
Captain Sweeney is Supervisor Over the Texas Ranger in Our Area.
His voice line is: 214 861-2360 His fax line is: 214 861-2364
Chief Kauffman is Over the Texas Rangers State Wide His voice line is: 512 424-2160 His fax line is: 512 424-2857
If you have a complaint/compliment it is your right as a citizen and taxpayer of this state to make it known to the Officials at the Top, and you do not have to take NO for an answer!!!
