7/1/06 Today in the mail, I received a letter from the Texas Attorney General concerning an Open Records Request filed by me with the Red River County Sheriff's office and the Sheriff, Terry Reed. Click Here to view the Open Record Request filed on the 6th of April 2006, and the response by Reed to that Request. (See the response by the Texas Attorney further down the page) The "VV Express" filed a request with the Texas Attorney General (will be requesting a copy of that document from the Texas AG) requesting to not produce the requested information because of the sheriff's objections to releasing it. "VV" was assigned ID#252353 by the Texas A.G. When you read the letter, notice that "VV" did not follow the required procedures by the Texas Attorney General and was ordered to produce the information before the expiration of the required interval which is 10 days. If he does not produce the material, I will be filing a complaint as stated by the Attorney General. In other words folks, unless "VV" figures a way out of this, (which by the way the Texas Attorney General states that a "VV" must file a lawsuit in Travis County to overturn the decision) he has no choice but to produce the documents. If our illustrious County Attorney would actually read and follow the laws this ruling might not have been in my favor, but as usual in Red River county the normal slipshod attitude of which is normal for our so called "Elected Officials" toward the law has caused his own heartburn. So, If I do not have the documents in my hands by the time the 10 day time frame has elapsed, a very good complaint will be filed against the "Sheriff" because the ruling is in my favor!! Click here to View the Texas Attorney General Ruling We will be able to tell how bad the information they are trying to conceal is by how hard they fight to conceal it!! |
